Earthquake Preparedness

Earthquake are one of the most devastating disaster that might happen anytime. Earthquake is caused by the passage of seismic waves through earth’s rocks. It occurs most often along geologic faults, narrow zone where rock masses move in relation to one another.

PHIVOLCS said that big one could happen anytime. The magnitude of this earthquake is estimated at 7.2 based on PHIVOLCS. So we must prepare for the big one.

National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is a good idea for use to make. Proper execution of school drills helps us to prevent panic, which might lead to accidents when everyone is overwhelmed with fear during a strong earthquake. The purpose of this drill is to train students and teachers and to test the various elements of our response plan in order to evaluate and revise it.

            During a damaging earthquake, life protecting actions must be taken immediately. There will not be time to decide what to do next. We must know how to react appropriately. After an earthquake, further life protecting actions such as emergency evacuation or first aid administration in case there are injuries or serious injuries.

           I think drills are one of the most important parts of an earthquake plan because they teach us students and also our parents and teachers on how to respond to the complications of an actual earthquake.
